The search committee recently approved a job advertisement based upon the desired qualities and characteristics approved by the Concord University Board of Governors. This job advertisement has been placed in higher education publications and recruiting websites such as The Chronicle of Higher Education, HigherEdJobs.com, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and Inside Higher Ed.
A Presidential Search web page will soon be available on Concord’s website to assist candidates in learning about Concord and the job opportunity. The search committee is also committed to updating the candidates and the University’s students, faculty, staff, alumni, and donors on the search committee’s progress during the presidential search.
The search committee will accept applications and nominations through Jan. 15, 2014. At that time, the committee will begin reviewing applications. It is anticipated that candidates will be selected and initial interviews with the search committee will take place in February of 2014. Additional interviews and a public forum will be held with the finalists between mid-March and early April 2014. After receiving recommendations from the search committee, the Concord University Board of Governors will select the new President and seek approval of that person with the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
Dr. Gregory Aloia, who served as Concord’s 10th President from 2008-2013, resigned from the position in the spring of 2013 to accept the position of President of the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, Ga. Dr. Kendra Boggess, former Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Business, is currently serving as Interim President of Concord University.
The Presidential Search Committee met on Nov. 18, 2013 and elected Charleston, W.Va., attorney and Concord alumnus, Mr. David Barnette, as the chair. Barnette is a member of Concord University’s Board of Governors (BOG) and is joined on the search committee by fellow BOG members Brace Mullett, Susan Rogers, and Robert “Doc” Foglesong. Also serving on the search committee is Dr. Paul Hill, Chancellor of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
Additional committee members include: Jessica Cook, representing Concord University alumni; Margaret Sayre, representing the Concord University Foundation; Dr. Susan Williams, representing Concord’s faculty; Amy Pitzer, representing Concord’s classified staff; and, Luke Stevens, representing Concord’s students.
