ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University’s Athens and Beckley campuses are hosting wellness fairs for the CU community and the general public. There is no admission charge at either event.
Flu shots will be offered at both locations. Persons interested in receiving a flu shot should bring their insurance information with them and/or be prepared to pay.
The fair at the Beckley location will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erma Byrd Higher Education Center, 300 University Drive, Beaver, W.Va. Joining Concord in sponsoring the event are Bluefield State College and Marshall University Graduate College.
Services offered include glucose and blood pressure checks, vision screenings, spinal screenings and car seat safety checks.
Drawings will be held for CU, BSC and MU T-shirts. Guests wearing Halloween costumes will be eligible to enter a drawing for a $25 Walmart gift card.
The wellness fair in Athens will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. The event is sponsored by the CU Wellness Committee and Student Affairs and has a Halloween theme.
Representatives from area health and wellness organizations, along with campus groups, will have displays and other information. Exhibit topics range from fitness and exercise to counseling and disease prevention.
Healthy snacks and beverages will be provided by Aramark. Copies of healthy recipes will be available. Guests can spin the “Wheel of Wellness” for a chance to win a prize. Door prizes will also be awarded.
