CONCORD UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION OF PRESIDENT ALOIA

ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University announces the resignation of President Gregory F. Aloia. Dr. Aloia has accepted the position of President of the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, Ga.

Officials with the College of Coastal Georgia made the announcement today that Dr. Aloia will replace outgoing President Valerie Hepburn. He will assume his duties on July 1.

“Concord is a wonderful University,” Dr. Aloia said. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve as President of this great institution with its outstanding faculty, wonderful students and phenomenally dedicated staff.”

“While I will miss the wonderful folks at Concord, I am looking forward to new and exciting opportunities at the College of Coastal Georgia,” he said.

Dr. Aloia has been President of and professor at Concord since 2008. Under his guidance, Concord has become a leader in serving student veterans and has been recognized as the top veteran friendly university in the United States. He has implemented an international initiative increasing the number of international students on Concord’s campus and the University’s participation in educational endeavors outside of the United States.

During his tenure, Dr. Aloia and his leadership team have been dedicated to increasing opportunities for professional development, increasing the number of faculty and enhancing the overall experience for students at Concord. Other highlights of his administration also include physical plant renovations and beautification projects on the campus grounds.

Dr. Aloia will complete the academic year at Concord. The Concord University Board of Governors will oversee the selection of his replacement.
