ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University’s Spanish program is hosting a three-day U.S. Latino Film Festival April 1-3, 2013 in recognition of Chicano Civil Rights leader César Chávez.

The films are “The Girl” (2012) on April 1, “Aquí y Allá” (2012) on April 2 and “A Better Life” (2011) on April 3.

These films offer a perspective of the immigrant experience and an insight into border culture.

Theatrical trailers may be viewed at:

Screenings will begin at 6 p.m. nightly in Room 304 of the Rahall Technology Center on Concord’s Athens campus. Each screening will be followed by a short, moderated discussion about U.S. Latino issues highlighted in the film. The event will conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m. each night.

The public is invited to attend the film festival at no charge. Please note that the films have mature themes and viewer discretion is advised.
