PET FOOD DRIVE UNDERWAY
ON CONCORD’S ATHENS AND BECKLEY CAMPUSES

ATHENS, WV – Concord University is holding a pet food drive until March 11 to collect donations for the Humane Society of Raleigh County. There is a collection box outside the Libby Alvis Dining Hall located in the Jerry and Jean Beasley Student Center on the Athens campus. The Athens and Beckley campus locations are both accepting donations at this time. The Beckley Center donation box is located at their front deck in the atrium.

The Humane Society of Raleigh County took in almost 2,500 cats and dogs this year. The shelter is located on Grey Flats Road in Beckley, W.Va. They provide adoption opportunities as well as public education on how to take care of animals after adoption. As a non-profit organization, they are greatly in need of donations to continue serving the community.

Concord’s Beckley campus donations organizer, Pam Wallace, stated this collection is near to her heart, “I am a huge pet lover and support the humane society and what they do.” This is the first time that both campuses have collected donations for this cause. “Any help they can get is appreciated,” said Wallace.

The collection will end March 11th but the humane society is always looking for volunteers and donations. Any small donation that is given will help provide a better life for these animals. For more information contact Pam Wallace of the Beckley campus at 304-256-0271 or the Humane Society of Raleigh County at 304-253-8921.
