CONCORD UNIVERSITY THEATRE DEPARTMENT
PRESENTING TWO ONE-ACT PLAYS

ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University Theatre Department will present two one-act plays, “Candy and Shelley Go to the Desert” and “Graceland,” Nov. 7-10 at 8 p.m. in the Alexander Fine Arts Center’s H.C. Paul Theatre. The Fine Arts Center is located on Concord University’s Main Campus at 1000 Vermillion Street in Athens, W.Va.

“Candy and Shelley Go to the Desert” is essentially about two women who, on a quest for adventure, run out of gas in the middle of the desert. Their friendship is tested and ultimately grows stronger throughout their experience, which includes hot sun, lizards, and a mysterious biker. Jessica Godby will be playing the role of Shelley, Ainsley Miller will be playing the role of Candy, and Charles Wallace will be playing the role of Ron.

“Graceland” is about the grand opening of Elvis’ home to the general public and the stories of two women, Bev and Rootie. It takes place in June of 1982, just five years after Elvis’ passing. The play is ultimately a competition between the two women to see who should be the first to enter the King’s grand estate. In the end, one does become the first to walk through the gates of Graceland. McKenzie Stewart will be playing the role of Rootie and Mary Beth Miller will be playing the role of Bev.

Admission is free for all, but donations for the theatre department are appreciated and will be accepted at the door. For more information, contact the Concord University Box Office at boxoffice@concord.edu or (304) 384-5101.
