CONCORD UNIVERSITY CHAMBER MUSICIANS
PERFORMING BEATLES TRIBUTE

ATHENS, W.Va. - Concord University’s music department will pay tribute to The Beatles in a free concert which will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at 7 p.m. The Celtic Ensemble, Brass Ensemble and The Conchords will be performing for the event. The concert will take place in the lobby of the Alexander Fine Arts Center. The center is located on Concord’s Athens campus at 1000 Vermillion Street in Athens, W.Va.

Oct. 5th of this year marked the fiftieth anniversary of the Beatles’ first single, “Love Me Do” and the forming of “The Beatles” as we have come to know them. Assistant Music Professors Dr. Laura Zamzow and Dr. Keely Rhodes are hosting this tribute to honor the Beatles. Dr. Rhodes says, “Several great groups have recorded and performed music by the Beatles since their inception. Now, Concord University’s musical groups can be included in that category.”

The Celtic and Brass Ensembles will perform traditional music in addition to a couple of Beatles arrangements for this event. However, The Conchords who will perform last in the line-up will be performing strictly Beatles music.

This event is open to Concord students, faculty and staff as well as the general public. If you require additional information, please contact the Concord University Box Office by telephone at (304)-384-5101 or via email at boxoffice@concord.edu
