CONCORD UNIVERSITY CELEBRATING HOMECOMING 2012

ATHENS, W.Va. - Homecoming at Concord University is set for Oct. 1-7, 2012. The annual weeklong celebration is packed with festivities for alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the University.

The grand finale is the football game on Saturday, Oct. 6. The Mountain Lions take on the Glenville State Pioneers at Callaghan Stadium. Kickoff is 2 p.m.

Activities are scheduled throughout Homecoming Week. A tradition among Greek organizations and other campus groups is the annual competition for Homecoming Royalty ending with the announcement of the winners at halftime during the football game.

During Concord’s annual Homecoming Parade, candidates and members of their organizations will display floats, banners and costumes as part of the competition. Billboards will also be located around campus.

The parade is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. on Vermillion Street in Athens. Area businesses, clubs and other organizations interested in placing entries in the parade should email cuevents@concord.edu or call 304-384-6286. After the parade Concord homecoming tradition continues with a bonfire in the Valley.

The Career Symposium, in its fourth year at Concord, will be held on Friday, Oct. 5. Sponsored by Concord University’s Advancement/Career Services Office, the event will connect current students with alumni. Concord graduates will speak on a wide variety of career options and offer helpful employment tips for undergraduates. The symposium will allow students to talk with alumni and make important business connections that can be used in obtaining internships or jobs.
