CONCORD UNIVERSITY HONORING PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS AUG. 7
ATHENS, W.Va. - Concord University will observe Purple Heart Recognition Day Tuesday, Aug. 7 with a brief outdoor ceremony at 12 noon on the Athens campus. The program will be held in front of the Marsh Memorial Carillon which is located atop Marsh Hall (Administration Building.)
Legislation passed by West Virginia lawmakers during the 2012 session designates Aug. 7 as a special memorial day to honor West Virginians who were wounded or killed in action while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
A moment of silence will be observed at 12 noon. The event is sponsored by Concord University’s Office of Veterans Affairs.
