SMARTPHONE APPS TOPIC OF CONCORD UNIVERSITY LECTURE


ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University software developer Miranda N. Martin will present a lecture on applications for smartphones on Friday, Dec. 9 on the Athens campus. The presentation will be held at 1 p.m. in Room 103 of the Science Building.

Martin will focus on development methods, techniques and issues with building Windows Phone applications. A background of the technologies used (Visual Studio, Silverlight and Expression Blend) will be presented along with a detailed description on how to develop a smartphone application in the Windows environment. Comments will be made on porting Windows Phone applications to Android and iPhone.

An Oak Hill, W.Va. native, Martin graduated from Concord in 2009.

The presentation will conclude with a demonstration of a medical terminology application developed by Martin and Concord professor of mathematics Dr. W.R. Winfrey in coordination with the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine that was presented at the 1st International Conference on E-Health and Telemedicine, Oct. 10 - 12, 2011 at Near East University, North Cyprus.
