ALUMNI BANQUET PART OF CONCORD’S HOMECOMING CELEBRATION
ATHENS, W.Va. - Concord University alumni and friends will gather for the annual Homecoming Banquet on Friday, Sept. 23. The reception begins at 5 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge in the Jerry L. Beasley Student Center and the banquet begins at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.
State Senator Mark Wills, a Concord alum, is the featured speaker. Wills graduated from Concord in 1977. An attorney, he received a J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law.
Entertainment will be provided by The Chris Oxley Quartet. The group performs traditional and contemporary jazz. The four original members of the quartet include drummer George Campbell and three alumni of Concord University – Chris Oxley on tenor saxophone, keyboardist Robert A. Burnside, Jr., and David Burnside on stand-up bass. Current vocalist, Jane E. Harkins, joined the group in 2008.
Cost of the dinner is $25 per person. Reservations may be made by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 304-384-6311. Payments may be made at the door.
The banquet is part of Concord’s weeklong Homecoming celebration. Activities for students, faculty, staff, alumni and all friends of the University community began on Monday, Sept. 19. The grand finale is the football game on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Mountain Lions meet the West Virginia State University Yellow Jackets at Callaghan Stadium. Kickoff is 2 p.m.
