Concord University Music Department Performing Holiday Concert For Local Communithy

ATHENS - The Concord University Department of Music will present “A Ceremony of Carols,” a special holiday concert, at Princeton Presbyterian Church Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 1809 West Main Street in Princeton.

The Camerata Singers, Concord’s select women’s choir, will be joined by Laurel Thompson, a professional harpist who performs with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

“The carols that will be performed are from eloquent medieval sacred texts,” Joshua Miller, assistant professor of music and director of vocal studies at Concord University, said.

“The ‘Ceremony of Carols’ concert features a gem from the choral Christmas literature by Benjamin Britten as well as a few rarely heard holiday selections and some traditional favorites scored for choir and brass ensemble,” he said.

Admission to the concert is free. More information is available through the Concord University Box Office at www.ConcordUEvents.com, or emailing BoxOffice@concord.edu or calling (304) 384-5101.
