Concert Saxophonist Ashu To Perform As Part of Concord's Artist Lecture Series
ATHENS - Ashu will perform at Concord University Monday, April 19, 2010, at 8 p.m. in the Alexander Fine Arts Center Main Auditorium. His performance is part of Concord’s Artist Lecture Series.
At age 26, concert saxophonist Ashu has made quite the name for himself. As a regularly traveling soloist with various orchestras throughout the United States and Europe, Ashu has earned a reputation for his charismatic stage presence. He has a unique ability to captivate audiences with his fresh style.
In a review by The Chicago Tribune, Ashu’s technique was described as “phenomenal, [as] he possesses a deep musicality which pours through his playing and hooks the audience…he’s a very engaging player – as much fun to watch as to listen to.”
Ashu attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. He made his recital debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall. Since then, his talent has led him to perform in Germany, Austria, France and various cities throughout the U.S. He has also been featured on NBC, CBS and NPR.
Tickets are free for Concord students, staff and faculty. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and $2 for non-concord students. Reservations are not needed.
