Relay For Life Event Scheduled at Concord University

Athens, W.Va. - Concord University is revving up for its ninth annual Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. The relay will begin Friday, April 23 at 7 p.m. and continue through 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 24 and will be held at Concord’s Callaghan Stadium.

Relay For Life is an event held to raise funds for cancer research, while honoring cancer survivors and those lost to the disease. Each year more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities in the United States, along with people in 20 other countries, participate in this fundraiser.

Concord University’s event goal for this year is to raise $20,000. Participants can still join a Concord relay team by visiting www.relayforlife.org/concorduniversitywv. Donations can also be made through this website to help Concord University reach the event goal.

Concord’s relay will feature performances by Flight 24, Aiesha Dewitt, Ashley Surface and CU Elite Dance Team beginning at 7 p.m. on April 23.

Cancer survivors are invited to join participating teams for the Opening Ceremony, Survivor’s Walk and Luminary Ceremony during the relay. Community members are also invited to attend and participate.
