Longaberger Basket Bingo Saturday, May 30 to Benefit the American Cancer Society

Athens, W.Va.- A Longaberger Basket Bingo to benefit the American Cancer Society is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 7 p.m. in the Jerry L. Beasley Student Center Ballroom at Concord University. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and tickets will be $10.
Concord students enrolled in CART 210C, Public Relations Workshop, have planned the event as part of their fundraising efforts for Relay For Life.
Miss West Virginia USA 2009, Jessi Pierson, and Miss West Virginia Teen USA 2009, Alysia Thompson, will assist the Public Relations Workshop Relay For Life team with the event.
Pierson is a recent graduate of Marshall University where she studied elementary education. She was ranked in the top 10 and named Miss Photogenic in the 2009 Miss USA Pageant held in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 19, 2009. Thompson is currently a junior at Ripley High School. She will represent West Virginia at the 2009 Miss Teen USA Pageant in July at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas.
“This has been a great opportunity for my students. They’re gaining experience in event planning and helping out a wonderful organization,” said Jenni Canterbury, instructor in communication arts.
