Writing Contest Winners Announced

Athens, W.Va. – Winners of the Martin Luther King, Jr., extemporaneous writing contest at Concord University were recently announced. Michael Kinder from South Charleston was the first place winner; he received $1,000. Paul Redden from Shady Spring was the second place winner; he received $500; and two students received honorable mention, Jonathan Rollins from Beckley and Bess Klander from Princeton.

This year 16 Concord University students participated in the contest.

The essays were judged by Dr. Gabriel Rieger, Dr. Amberyl Malkovich, and Dr. Joseph “Chip” Manzione.
