Athens, W.Va. – Girls in the region will have a unique opportunity to learn about and participate in a wide variety of sports at Concord University on Saturday, February 7 through the “Look Who’s Playing” Girls and Women in Sports Day. In addition, participants may attend, at no charge, a women’s basketball game, Concord University vs. Ohio Valley University.
“This is the sixth event that we have hosted,” said Dr. Patricia A. “Pat” Hardin. “We organize this event in conjunction with efforts from the National Association for Girls & Women in Sports to encourage girls to participate in sports.”
For those who wish to participate, registration will be held at the Carter Center in Athens at 11:45 a.m. Activities are scheduled through 3:45 p.m., and then participants may attend the women’s basketball game scheduled for 4 p.m. Activities include the following: soccer, golf, cheerleading, tennis, track & field, softball, basketball, volleyball and relay games. Pizza will be served to participants.
There is no charge for participating in the events or attending the basketball game. Girls, kindergarten through sixth grade are eligible to participate.
