David Rosenbloom to Lecture Wednesday, April 2

Athens, W.Va. – David Rosenbloom distinguished professor of Public Administration at American University in Washington, D.C., will lecture on "Public Administration and the Unitary Executive," on Wednesday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. The lecture will be held in Student Center State Room.

Dr. Rosenbloom is a leading contributor to the field of public administration. His specializations include constitutional and administrative law, public administrative theory, public administrative history, administrative reform, and human resources management. He is a member of the National Academy of Public Administration and the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2001 American Political Science Association John Gaus Award for Exemplary Scholarship in the Joint Tradition of Political Science and Public Administration, the American Society for Public Administration's 1999 Dwight Waldo Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Literature and Leadership of Public Administration, the 1993 Charles H. Levine Award for Excellence in Public Administration, the 1992 National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration and American Society for Public Administration Distinguished Research Award, and AU's School of Public Affairs outstanding scholarship and service awards (1994, 1999, 2000, and 2005 ). In 2004, he received the AU School of Public Affairs PhD Students' First Annual Award for Excellence in Teaching and Outstanding Contributions to PhD Students. His study, Building a Legislative-Centered Public Administration: Congress and the Administrative State, 1946-1999 received the National Academy of Public Administration's 2001 Louis Brownlow Book Award. His most recent books are Administrative Law for Public Managers (2003) and Public Administration: Understanding Management, Politics, and Law in the Public Sector, 6th ed (2004). Rosenbloom's research focuses on public administration and democratic-constitutionalism. He was editor in chief of Public Administration Review (1991-1996) and currently serves on the editorial boards of about a dozen leading public administration journals.

Rosenbloom frequently guest lectures at universities and public service organizations in the United States and abroad. He has continuing affiliations with Renmin (People's) University in Beijing and Xi Bei Da Xue (Northwest University) in Xi'an, PRC as a guest professor. Rosenbloom's public service includes appointment to the Clinton-Gore Presidential Transition Team for the Office of Personnel Management in 1992.
