Roth 5K Walk/Run Tuesday, May 8 to Benefit Scholarship Fund
Athens, W.Va. – The 17th annual David S. Roth Memorial 5K Walk/Run will be held Tuesday, May 8. Registration begins at 5 p.m. in the lobby of Carter Hall on the Concord University campus in Athens. At 6:15 p.m., walkers and runners will begin a rolling 3.1 mile race course.
Sponsored by the Concord University Student Government Association, this annual walk/run honors the memory of Dr. David S. Roth, who taught English and journalism at the university from 1969 to 1986. Dr. Roth was an enthusiastic Mountain Lion fan who actively supported Concord athletics in his roles as statistician, reporter, and announcer.
All proceeds from the walk/run will be donated to the David S. Roth Memorial Scholarship fund. The Roth Scholarship is awarded on the basis of an annual university-wide writing competition.
Trophies will be awarded to runners and walkers in various age and gender categories.
T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 100 who register and participate.
Following the race, a drawing will be held for door prizes donated by Aramark Campus Dining Service, Concord University Bookstore, and three Princeton businesses: Dandelion Gallery, Princeton Health and Fitness Center, and Trophies and More.
Aramark will also donate refreshments of lemonade and fresh fruit.
The Walk/Run entry fee for students of all ages is $6 (or $5 if pre-registered by May 7). For other participants, the entry fee is $12 (or $10 if pre-registered by May 7). To pre-register, contact Tom Davis at 1-304-384-3298, or by e-mail: email@example.com.
