Historical Novelist to Speak at CU Homecoming Banquet, Friday, October 6

Athens, W.Va. - Join Concord University alumni and friends for the annual homecoming banquet with guest speakers and authors James Alexander Thom and Dark Rain Thom. An historical novelist, James Alexander Thom is acclaimed for his talents at bringing characters in America’s past to life. Among his notable works are Follow the River, the national bestseller tracing Mary Ingles’ heroic escape and journey home after her capture by Shawnee Indians, and Sign Talker, the fictional tale of George Drouillard, leader of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Dark Rain Thom, the Water Panther Clan Mother of the East of the River Shawnee of Ohio, is author of The Shawnee: Kohkumthena's Grandchildren. Together this husband and wife writing team produced Warrior Woman, the story of the woman's peace chief of the Shawnee Nation. The Thoms live near Bloomington, Ind., in a log cabin.

A reception and book signing will be held on Friday, October 6, in the Concord University Student Center television lounge on the second floor, and banquet will be held at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom on the third floor. The authors are the only source for hardcover copies of the books, Sign Talker and Warrior Woman.

Cost for the banquet is $18 and reservations are required. Please contact the Concord University Alumni Office, 1-304-384-5348 or 6056, alumni@concord.edu, or fax, 304-384-6016, to make your reservations.
