First Community Bank Supports Capital Campaign at Concord
Athens, W.Va. – Mr. John Mendez, president and CEO of First Community Bancshares, announced that First Community Bank will award $25,000 to the Concord University Foundation, Inc., capital campaign, “At the Crossroads.”
Concord University nears completion of the most successful capital campaign in Concord’s history, securing in excess of $35,000,000. Funds raised through the capital campaign will be used for a number of projects, including the Nick J. Rahall, II Technology Center; University Point, which will house the Wilkes Family Interfaith Chapel and the Erickson Alumni Center; student scholarships; funding for faculty development; and improvements to the University’s facilities.
Mendez, a 1978 graduate of Concord, in a letter to Concord University President Jerry Beasley, said, “I am very pleased to let you know that the Board of First Community Bank N.A. has approved a gift to the Concord University Foundation in the amount of $25,000.
“Please know that we are aware of the critical role that Concord University plays in the growth and development of our region and our state and, more importantly, in the education of so many of our local residents. We are also appreciative of the many ways in which the University improves and enriches our lives through its programs and activities,” Mendez stated.
“The University continues to be grateful for the generous support of First Community Bank. The entire Concord community, as well as the region, will benefit from the success of the Foundation’s campaign, and our accomplishments are made possible only through the generosity of supporters such as First Community Bank,” concluded Concord University President, Dr. Jerry Beasley.
