Carolina Panthers President to Speak at Concord University Today
Athens, W.Va. – Mark Richardson, president of the NFL Carolina Panthers will be speaking today at 2 p.m., in the Student Center Ballroom at Concord University.
The Panthers celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2004 and Mark Richardson has been at the heart of the franchise long before there was a nickname, uniforms or stadium. He has played a central role in the development of virtually every facet of the organization, while emerging as a leader not only of the Panthers, but the National Football League.
Mark’s management style, business acumen and marketing ingenuity have not gone unnoticed by the NFL. He has served five years on the prestigious NFL Competition Committee after being described by Commissioner Paul Tagliabue as “an individual who brings something special to the committee’s task.” Mark’s evolution as a League leader continued when he also was named to the Compensation Committee and the NFL Properties Board of Directors.
In addition to earning an undergraduate degree in business administration from Clemson University in 1983 and an MBA from the University of Virginia in 1987, Mark has an athletic background that includes playing for Clemson’s 1981 National Championship football team and ACC Championship teams in 1981 and 1982. Born July 29, 1960, Mark has lived in the Carolinas most of his life. He now resides in Charlotte where he is active in the community as a board member of several organizations, including the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and Charlotte Regional Partnership.
