Public Service Announcement: Ice Cream Social at Concord, Wednesday, April 13
Athens, W.Va. – The Bonner Scholars invite you to attend an ice cream social on Wednesday, April 13, 12 noon to 4 p.m. in the College Center Ballroom at Concord University.
Several local organizations will be serving ice cream to benefit Covenant House. Covenant House is located in Charleston, W.Va., and is dedicated to working for justice by offering direct services to people in need while creating social change through education.
The ice cream social is the last event of a fundraiser to benefit Covenant House. The fundraiser is sponsored by the Bonner Scholars.
The Bonner Scholars Program at Concord University combines student participation in community service and scholarship.
“Admission to the ice cream social is $3. In addition, we will be accepting donations of grooming supplies, canned food, or clothing until 2 p.m., which will go toward supporting projects at Covenant House. We are concluding the fundraiser for Covenant House in a fun way designed to raise money that will benefit the AIDS program, homeless day shelter, and emergency assistance program. We hope everyone can donate something to this very worthwhile cause,” says Amanda Woods, who is serving as an intern at Covenant House. Woods, a psychology and social work major from Charleston, is a sophomore at Concord University and is also a Bonner Scholar. “This is a fun way to contribute to the effort!” she concluded.
