“Extremities” at Concord University, April 14-16 & April 21-23

Athens, W.Va. – Concord University’s Theater Department will perform “Extremities” Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 14, 15 and 16, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 21, 22 and 23 at 8 p.m. in the H.C. Paul Theater in the Alexander Fine Arts Center.

"Extremities" is a play about the consequences of a rape. A young woman is attacked in her home. She manages to fend off her attacker only to realize that she has no proof of a crime. Faced with the promise that he will return and kill her, she must take action or die.

When asked about the production, Dr. Thomas Gambill, associate professor of communication arts and theater director, said, "Along with being incredibly powerful, I think this is one of the most important plays of the contemporary American theater.”

The principal roles for the production have been double cast and performers will rotate on a nightly basis. Cast members include James “Andy” Rollyson from Nimitz, W.Va.; Corey Franklin from Princeton, W.Va.; Liz Rhule from Charleston, W.Va.; Karen Atha from Beckley, W.Va.; Jacque Sergent from Charleston, W.Va.; and Natale Clark from Clarksburg, W.Va.

“Extremities” will be performed two weekends in April to accommodate the limited seating. There will be a post-show discussion each night with the cast and crew. Due to the graphic content of “Extremities,” this play is not suitable for children or audience members who are language sensitive.

Reservations will be taken starting April 11. Ticket prices are as follows: $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, and $2 for non-Concord students. Concord students, faculty and staff will be admitted free of charge with a valid Concord University ID.

To reserve tickets, call 1-304-384-5101 or e-mail the box office at boxoffice@concord.edu. Reservations must be picked up at the door one half hour prior to the show.
