Fund for Concord Dinner, Thursday, November 18, Acordia/Wells Fargo Executive to Provide Keynote Address

Athens, W.Va. – The 2004 Charleston Fund for Concord Dinner will be held Thursday, November 18, in the Grand Ballroom of the Embassy Suites in Charleston.

Keynote speaker for the event will be David J. Zuercher, executive vice president international, for Correspondent Banking and Insurance Services, Wells Fargo & Company. Locally, Acordia, Inc., which has 20 offices in West Virginia, is a subsidiary of Wells Fargo.

Zuercher is the Chairman of Wells Fargo HSBC Trade Bank, N.A., a joint venture between Wells Fargo and HSBC Group, which specializes in trade finance. He is also Chairman of Acordia, Inc., a Wells Fargo company that is the fifth largest property and casualty insurance broker in the U.S. In his 35-year career with Wells Fargo, Zuercher has worked throughout Wells’ organization in a number of lending and management positions. His responsibilities within Wells Fargo have included asset generation, customer retention, credit management, loan workouts, sales, and marketing.

Andy Paterno, regional managing director of Acordia in Charleston, stated that, “Acordia is proud to be affiliated with Concord University’s efforts to support scholarships in this area, and David will be an informative and entertaining speaker at Concord’s dinner on Thursday evening.”

The student speaker will be Diana Massey from Oceana, W.Va.

This is the sixth annual dinner to be held in Charleston. The planning committee for the event has established a goal of $84,000. Proceeds from the dinner will fund student scholarships at Concord University.

The reception starts at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. Cost for the tickets is $100 for individuals. Tables may be purchased for $1,000, $2,500 or $5,000 each.
