Concord Chapter of Alpha Chi Honor Society Earns Distinction
Athens, W.Va. – Concord College’s chapter of Alpha Chi has been named a “Star Chapter” for the 2002-2003 year, according to Dennis M. Organ, Ph.D., executive director for the organization, from Searcy, Ark.
Alpha Chi, which is a national college honor scholarship society, awards the “Star” distinction to only 15 percent of its 300-plus chapters.
“I know that you will be proud of the students and faculty sponsors in your chapter,” stated Dr. Organ in a letter to Concord President Jerry Beasley.
Dr. Organ commended Concord’s role in support of the ideals of the society.
Criteria for the award includes having at least one student presentation at the national convention, nominating at least one student for a national Alpha Chi fellowship or scholarship, and sponsoring at least one on-campus program in promotion of scholarship, among others.
Dr. Stephen D. Rowe, library director and professor of English is the faculty sponsor for Alpha Chi.
