Concord’s Music Faculty to Present Recitals: March 28 in Beckley and March 30 in Athens

Athens, W. Va. - The Concord College music faculty will present their spring concert this year at the Beckley Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 28 at 2 p.m., and on campus at the Alexander Fine Arts Center on Tuesday, March 30 at 7 p.m. Both performances are free to the public and all are welcome to attend. A reception at the church will follow the performance in Beckley.

Music by Ravel, Schimmel, Mainland, Ponce, Lutoslawski, Rutter, and Maslanka are among the featured composers. These works were composed for piano, marimba, clarinet, guitar, trombone and voice.

Faculty members performing include: Dr. Andy Necessary, trombonist; Dr. Pete Zambito, percussionist; Dr. Jane Smith, pianist; Dr. Dean Turner, clarinetist; Dr. Tim Mainland, guitarist; and Mr. Chris Ryder, vocalist.

Dr. Smith stated that, “The Concord music faculty looks forward to the program and hopes to see you there.”
