TKE Fraternity to “Make the Polar Bear Plunge” This Sunday, February 29
Athens, W. Va. – A group of fun-loving fraternity brothers are “making the plunge”. . .all for a good cause, of course!
Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity (TKE) at Concord College is raising money for the Ronald Reagan Alzheimer’s Foundation. The Foundation raises money to fund research for cures for the disease.
Approximately 20 young men will jump in the Bluestone State Park Lake at the Marina, off Route 20, near Hinton, at 10 a.m., this Sunday, February 29.
Members are currently asking for sponsors, and the fraternity is also asking for monetary support from the general public.
“We’re doing our part in a unique way to raise the awareness of Alzheimer’s, and raise money for research,” stated Michael Guiffreda. Mr. Guiffreda is from Deltona, Fla., and is the philanthropy chair for the fraternity. “Ronald Reagan, our former president, was a member of the TKE fraternity, and of course everyone knows that he suffers from this terrible disease.”
“I would like to encourage all to donate to this worthy cause,” stated Ryan Jackson, a TKE member from Berwind.
Keith Pruitt, from Caretta, said that, ”I know that I will freeze, but we do hope that a lot of people will show up, the colder the better,” he chuckled!
Fraternity officers who planned the event include: President Gregory Faith, Nokesville, Va.; Vice President James Patrick Fraizer, Hillsville, Va.; Secretary D.J. Boland, State College, Pa.; Treasurer Adam Boland, State College, Pa.; Chaplin Gabe McKee, St. Marys, Oh.; Historian Peter Underwood, London, England; Sergeant-at-Arms Chris Brown, Mabscott; Educator Al Hudgins, Pineville; and Philanthropy Chair Michael Guiffreda, Deltona, Fla.
For more information contact TKE President Gregory Faith at 1-304-952-9499 or Mike Guiffreda, 1-304-384-5626.
