Media Advisory: 70% of Jobs Found Through “Networking,” Find Out Why at Concord, Thursday, February 26

Athens, W. Va. – You may have been told: “It’s not ‘what’ you know but ‘whom’ you know.” According to statistics from the Federal Bureau of Labor, the old saying has merit, as 70 percent of all jobs are found through networking.

The Office of Career Services at Concord College is hosting a seminar on “The Art of Mingling,” Thursday, February 26, in the College Center State Room.

Hinton native, Susan Lawrence, an alumna of Concord and expert in business etiquette and protocol, will teach the seminar. Ms. Lawrence owns “Class Advantage, Inc.” She has trained employees from nationally recognized companies and is currently pursuing her Ph.D.

John Thackston, another alumnus from the College will provide a presentation on “The Art of Networking.” Mr. Thackston is from Mt. Hope and serves as an adjunct instructor for Concord College.

Area businesses are participating in this event.

Concord students Lori Gunno from St. Albans and Kara Adkins from Summersville assisted with the organization of this event, and will receive academic credit for their efforts.
