Concord Students Benefit from Local Chiropractor’s Philanthropy

Athens, W. Va. – On Friday, September 12, Dr. Lee Willis, chiropractor and business leader in Princeton provided the annual contribution to the Jerry Ray Willis Chiropractic Scholarship Fund at Concord College. Concord President Jerry L. Beasley accepted the gift on behalf of the College.

The scholarships are awarded to pre-chiropractic students who maintain a 3.0 grade point average or better. Students must be residents of southern West Virginia or southwestern Virginia and have a financial need as determined by the College’s financial aid office.

Willis hosts an annual golf tournament in Wytheville each spring and invites business leaders and College supporters. Funds from the tourney provide much-needed financial assistance to pre-chiropractic students.

Dr. Willis said, “We are pleased to see Concord continue to serve students from southern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia with rigorous academic programs. President Beasley, in a speech to the Rotary Club today, addressed the fact that Concord is a very efficient institution. A continued loss of support from the state, however, will challenge the College to meet the educational needs of students. I hope others will rise to the occasion and support much-needed scholarships for students at Concord.”
