The thirteenth annual Roth 5K Walk/Run will be held on the Concord College campus in Athens on Tuesday, May 6. All entry fees will be donated to the David S. Roth Memorial Scholarship fund. Sponsored by the Concord College Student Government Association, this event is open to the general public, as well as Concord students, faculty, and staff.
T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 100 to register. Trophies will be awarded to walkers and runners in various categories. All participants will be eligible for door prizes.
For those who pre-register before May 6, the entry fee is $5 for students of any age, and $10 for others. For pre-registration forms, contact Tom Davis at 1-304-384-3298 or Liz Roth at 1-304-384-5229.
On-site registration on May 6 will begin at 5 p.m. in Carter Hall. For those not pre-registered, the entry fee is $6 for students, $12 for others.
Runners and walkers will line up on the track by 6:15 p.m. The 3.1 mile course loops twice around campus and central Athens before returning to the finish line on the track.
The scholarship fund supported by this event honors the memory of Dr. David S. Roth, professor of English and journalism at Concord for seventeen years. An ardent Mountain Lions fan, Dr. Roth supported Concord athletics in his roles as statistician, sports reporter, and announcer at football games until his untimely death from cancer in 1986.
Persons with disabilities should contact Rick Dillon, 1-304-384-5231 or Alice Dillon,
