Verizon Provides Scholarship to Concord Students

Athens, W.Va. - Government Relations & External Affairs Area Manager Michael P. Newman, with Verizon West Virginia, provided the annual contribution to the Verizon Scholarship Fund at Concord College. The Verizon scholarship is awarded to students in business and teacher education.

Verizon has provided scholarships to deserving students at Concord College for more than a decade.

“Verizon thinks that education is critical for our children,” stated Mr. Newman. “It makes them better citizens and better employees and that’s what we are interested in. We want to help those who may not be able to complete or even enter college. Verizon has a long history of helping deserving students and we see no reason to change. In fact, the need is more critical as we look toward the future.”

Concord President Jerry Beasley thanked Mr. Newman for Verizon’s generous contribution on behalf of the scholarship recipients.
