The Jan Van Dyke Dance Group to Perfrom at Concord College

Athens, W.Va. - The Jan Van Dyke Dance Group will perform on November 20, 2002 at 8 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center at Concord College.

Eleven talented women combine their skills and extensive formal training to perform a repertory of choreography that is delightful for audiences of all ages. While dancing to songs such as Night Between Two Days, Watching as I Go, Jive, Silence, Waltz, and Round Dance, the women will give a performance which is athletic, poetic, and contemporary all at the same time.

The Jan Van Dyke Dance group is a professional company that has resided in the Department of Dance at the University of North Carolina since 1989 and has performed throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

Jan Van Dyke, choreographer of the group and professor of dance at the University of North Carolina, recently received the 2001 Award for Significant Contributions to Dance from the North Carolina Dance Alliance, the statewide dance service organization.

This program is presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
