Attention Teachers: "The Holocaust in Perspective" to Be Offered at Concord College
Athens, W.Va. - The West Virginia Commission on Holocaust Education and Concord College invite secondary teachers to participate in a one-week faculty development program on The Holocaust in Perspective. No prior knowledge of the topic is required, and preference will be given to teachers who are planning to teach the Holocaust in their classrooms.
Twenty candidates will be selected from the pool of applicants and those interested are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Students will be given the opportunity to interact with Holocaust scholars, survivors and camp liberators. Videos will be shown, and exhibits, artifacts, posters, and photos will be available. Teachers trained in Holocaust education will be on hand to work with participants on classroom strategies and educational materials will be provided.
Class will be held Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. There will be one break in the morning, one break in the afternoon, and one hour for lunch. Required texts will be made available the first day of the workshop and a $50 registration fee will be applied toward the purchase of those texts.
