Forty-First Annual Honors Banquet Held at Concord

Athens, W.Va. - The Cardinal Key and Blue Key Honor Societies of Concord College hosted the forty-first Annual Honors Banquet, Thursday, April 25, 6:00 p.m. in the State Room of the College Center. Billie Jean Crigger, from Raysal, WV, and president of Cardinal Key, served as emcee for the event.

Students received honors for excelling in their field of study and for high academic performance. Summa cum laude represents a GPA (grade point average) of 3.80 or higher, magna cum laude represents 3.60-3.79, and cum laude represents a GPA between 3.30-3.59.

Academic sponsors for the honor societies are Mary Edna Beckett and Cecilia Fizer. Mary Edna Beckett and Dr. Joseph Marsh organized the first honors banquet in 1961, and Marsh was a special guest at this year’s banquet.
