South American Music to Be Performed at Concord
Athens, W.Va. - Concord College will present Viva Quetzal! on Saturday, September 22, 8:00 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.
Viva Quetzal! will be performing traditional, folkloric, and pop music of South American origin, fused with rock and jazz textures and instruments. The group has played its unique repertoire at international music festivals, educational events, museums, and cultural institutions. They have also performed in folk, jazz, and world beat clubs all across the eastern United States.
Viva Quetzal! is composed of three traditional and folkloric musicians from Chile and Peru, and four North American rock and jazz musicians. Together, they play original folk/pop/jazz/rock amalgams based on Inca, Andean, Quechua, and Afro-South American themes on an electric array of nearly forty ancient and modern instruments.
Tickets will be on sale in the box office at 7:00 p.m. the evening of the performance. Adult tickets are $5.00, senior citizens $4.00, and non-Concord students, $2.00.
