Concord Student Elected Vice President of Regional Honors Council

Athens, W.Va. - Mr. Abhishek Singh was elected student vice president of the Virginia Collegiate Honors Council (VCHC). Singh was elected at the VCHC Spring Conference at George Mason University, March 24, 2001. He is from Bimar, India, and plans on graduating in 2003 with a degree in Business/Accounting.

The VCHC is an organization of college and university honors programs in Virginia and West Virginia. Dr. Carol Manzione, assistant professor of history and honors program coordinator stated that, “I am the exiting Secretary/Treasurer of VCHC and have found the members to be very helpful in suggesting ways to improve our own program. Singh’s election means that he will be an officer of VCHC and will be responsible for the planning of the Spring 2002 Conference. I think he will do an excellent job coordinating the event.”

“We are the only active school from West Virginia that participates in this honors council," stated Singh. “Approximately 300 honors students are involved in this organization and I felt very honored to be elected to the highest position that can be held by a student.”

Other schools that participate in this council include Washington & Lee, George Mason University, and James Madison University.
