Dr. Jie Luo joined the Division of Business in the fall of 2011. Dr. Luo holds a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech, a Masters Degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, China. She worked as accountant, financial controller, and business manager before pursuing her Ph.D.
Dr. Luo’s research interests focus on Experimental Economics applied to Accounting and Management issues. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed accounting journals including Strategic Finance, Issues in Contemporary Accounting Journal, and Disclosures. Topic areas have included Managerial Accounting, Lean Accounting, Digital Forensics, and Accounting Education. Currently, her primary research is to experimentally investigate the impact of compensation plans on workers’ productivity. She has presented her research at the American Accounting Association (AAA) Annual Meeting and the Southeast AAA Meeting.
Dr. Luo has been teaching the introductory Financial Accounting course and Intermediate Accounting II at Concord University. She is currently advising 29 students at the Division of Business.
